Summer Mini Sessions for Wheel Throwing

We’re offering something else new this summer. A mini summer session for those unable to commit to the entire summer, but not wanting to wait until September (gasp!) for the next class! This course is where you can build your skills, consisting of 2.5 hours of instruction and wheel time. Students wanting to attend the mini session will be able to choose their 4 weeks from all available classes over the summer. Spaces will be first come, first served and sign ups can be done in person. Class times available are Tuesday evening from 5:30-8 PM, Wednesday or Thursday evenings 6-8:30 PM. Daytime hours could also be an option and can be discussed in person.   Last day of classes will be August 21, so bookings will close when we have less than 4 weeks left in the summer.

This course is offered to all skill levels, but it is recommended that you first take Intro to Wheel Throwing if you have never done anything on a potter’s wheel before. Class fee of $125  includes use of studio equipment and glazes with supervision. Community tools are available if you don’t have your own. Basic skills will be covered including trimming and glazing. New skills will be introduced at students’ request as you move at your own pace. Students will be expected to clean their work stations at the end of each class. Work must be completed in the 2.5 hours provided. Students should bring an apron or towel. Short fingernails are recommended.

New students will be provided 10 pounds of clay to get started. Fresh clay can be purchased as needed, at cost. (Right now it’s $15 for 25 pounds) Additional studio use will cost $20/hr. Left over clay at the end of the session must be taken home or it will be added to the recycle. Open to students age 14 and over. Classes begin June 10 and end August 21.
